Everybody knows that kids are naturally creative and often their art projects and creative pieces truly represent who they are - their personalities, imaginations, and sometimes - their big ideas and dreams. So, why should moms, dads, grandmas and grandpas, be the only ones to enjoy seeing the wonderful art resulting from innocent imaginations and dreams.

It's time to take these pieces off the fridge, cork boards, or parents' work areas, and have them displayed for all of Staten Island to see in a real art school - the Art Lab.

Art Lab is welcoming art work from children ages 3 - 18 to be displayed for our community to view and enjoy during the 7th Annual Kidz Open exhibition.

Art Lab's Annual Kidz Open Show was established as a means to open the gallery doors to all young artists on Staten Island. It was designed to give them the same experience as the "grown up artists." Any young artist is welcome; you do not have to be a student at the Art Lab or in any art class at all.

This year, the Art Lab is accepting two pieces per person for the same $5 entry fee and an extra dollar for sibling entries. Call 718- 447-8667 for application materials today. Application materials are also available from Art Lab's Facebook page - so if you're on Facebook - you can become our friend and get them that way too!

There are designated days to drop off art work - Feb 27-28 (10 to 4 p.m.) and March 1 -2 (11 to 7 p.m.).

The Opening Reception for the Kids Exhibition will be March 5 from 2-4pm (open to the public). Make certain to bring the whole family on this day so they can share in the pride and joy exhibited by the young people who have allowed us to showcase their talent.

The show runs from March 5-27th. Payment of $5 per entry is due upon drop off of work.
