The American Museum of Natural History will present Bollywood and Anime in America on Saturday April 17th and Sunday April 18th. The exhibition is free with museum admission.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Museum exhibition Traveling the Silk Road: Ancient Pathway to the Modern World. The ancient Silk Road's trading routes promoted the exchange of ideas, arts, and goods among different peoples. In that spirit, this April Global Weekends continues to highlight contemporary cultural influences from varying perspectives.

Much like the ancient Silk Road, today's social media promotes cultural exchange. One instructive example of such global exchange is the spread of India's Bollywood films and Japanese anime throughout the world. Discover and experience how and why these forms have been quickly embraced by American pop culture.

Featured anime films at this program are U.S. Premiere of YONA YONA PENGUIN (directed by Rintaro, produced by Madhouse) and EUREKA SEVEN: GOOD NIGHT, SLEEP TIGHT, YOUNG LOVERS (directed by Tomoki Kyoda, produced by Bones). In addition to the film premieres, there will be an anime trailer marathon, CG anime production demo and others in the grand gallery.

Anime is not only the entertainment that will be featured. Art, media, and other lifestyle features will be available. Check out Anime Galleria to see what is offered. Manga and drawing area, Figures/Toys display area, Anime on mobile phone demo, and such will be featured. Introduced are good examples of anime's versatile penetration in our everyday life.
