When the Brisbane season of The Phantom of the Opera begins playing in Brisbane on February 6, Alexander Lewis will assume the leading role of Raoul, opposite Australia's first Phantom Anthony Warlow, Brisbane soprano Ana Marina and the acclaimed The Phantom of the Opera cast. Alexander will play Raoul throughout the remainder of Phantom's Australian and New Zealand tour.

Alexander's performance highlights include being soloist with Opera Australia as Cobweb in Baz Luhrmann's A Midsummer Night's Dream, with The State Opera of South Australia as third spirit in Verdi's Macbeth and with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Alexander also performed alongside Jill Perryman and Amanda Muggleton in the Centenary Gala Concert for Her Majesty's Theatre, Perth, and starred in the television series Headland.

The son of acclaimed Australian opera singers, Michael Lewis and Patricia Price, Alexander appeared in Rosie and as Fred Barrett in the musical Titanic. He also performed the role of Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd for Opera Australia. A WAAPA music theatre graduate, Alexander commenced performing in England as a chorister in St Albans Cathedral under the guidance of leading choral master Dr Barry Rose. Whilst at WAAPA Alexander performed the title role in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo directed by John Milson, Franklin Shepard in Merrily We Roll Along, directed by Ross Coleman and featured in The Witches of Eastwick, Jonah, and Jaques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, directed by Tony Sheldon. The recipient of the 2006 New York Study Award, Alexander was a semi finalist in the 2007 Neue Stimmen in Germany.

Alexander joins the The Phantom of the Opera cast in rehearsals from January in preparation for his opening night in Brisbane in February.

The Brisbane season commences on February 6 and runs for a limited season. The Phantom of the Opera has been playing to sell out crowds in Melbourne since the national tour opened in July, and has received rave reviews. The production finishes in Melbourne on January 20, before moving to Brisbane, and then on to Sydney opening May 11, 2008.
