Playwrights are invited to submit ten-minute plays through Abingdon's popular Benefit Challenge Series, an opportunity for dramatists to work with directors and actors on a short-term project through a challenging writing exercise. The series operates in conjunction with each of our mainstage plays, inviting dramatists to submit plays inspired by the theme and locale of our current productions.
In our 21st Season, we premiered 24 ten-minute plays through our FITTING ROOM PLAYS, presented on the set of Fix Me, Jesus, and THE BLANK V. BLANK PLAYS, presented on the set of Hellman V. McCarthy.
Through our Benefit Challenge Series, Abingdon has launched more than 185 ten-minute plays, expanding our community and patrons alike. Plays developed in this forum have gone on to full productions in venues across the country, and publication in national play anthologies.
