4thU Artivists, a NYC-based theater group, announces their 2017-2018 call for submissions for their second full season of creative projects produced to raise awareness and funding to help end violence against women and girls. To date, they have raised over $110,000 for a number of well-established beneficiaries including Day One, Safe Horizons, and playwright Eve Ensler's V-Day and One Billion Rising.

The 4thU Artivists Advisory Council is currently selecting one or two finished plays with narratives aligned with the organizational mission and the potential to involve members of the 4thU Artivists creative community. The organization actively supports both emerging and established artists and welcomes projects that may not be traditionally defined. A link to the work or a media file must be uploaded to our dropbox folder: http://bit.ly/2rNnSxL.

• Submission Deadline: July 14, 2017

• Performance Dates: Early November, 2017

For more information on the application process, or to apply, please visit https://is.gd/Gp7v4c. Questions may be sent to submissions@4thU.org.

Productions will be staged in Fourth Universalist Society's splendid landmark Gothic-style cathedral on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The church - a Unitarian Universalist (UU) congregation - is a 501(c)(3), and theater companies and donors are eligible for tax exemption.

With their motto, "activism through the arts," members of the 4thU Artivists' all-volunteer community are as committed to effecting social change as they are to creating art with meaning. If selected, visiting artists will be expected to take an active role in community involvement and marketing and fundraising efforts. Net proceeds from performances will be donated to designated beneficiaries: established agencies whose work is in alignment with the mission to protect women - whatever their age or circumstance - against violence.
