The Music Theatre of Wichita announced its 2010 schedule, including productions of GYPSY, CURTAINS, and more. The schedule is as follows:

GYPSY
June 9-13

One of the truly great musicals, this fact-inspired American saga puts Madame Rose center stage, a fearless and endlessly resourceful stage mother determined to survive the Depression by pushing her daughters into the spotlight. Based on the hilarious and heartbreaking memoirs of stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, the songs include "Let Me Entertain You," "Small World," "You'll Never Get Away from Me," "All I Need is the Girl," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses."

SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE
June 23-27

This long-running hit took Broadway by storm when it sizzled its way onto the Great White Way. Smokey Joe's Cafe is a salute to rock'n'roll songwriting team Lieber and Stoller, whose songbook truly reflects the American experience in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Great tunes include "Stand By Me," "Hound Dog," "I'm a W-O-M-A-N," and "Jailhouse Rock," and our singer-dancers will rock the house singing "They say the neon lights are bright On Broadway!"

CRAZY FOR YOU
July 7-11

Winning the Tony Award for Best musical, CRAZY FOR YOU features a mistaken-identity plot, sumptuous sets and costumes, lush orchestrations, and nifty Fred-and-Ginger-inspired choreography. Songs include "I Got Rhythm," "Embraceable You," and "Someone to Watch Over Me," and is a throwback to the tradition of the American Musical Comedy.

ANNIE
July 21-25

After a 16 year absence, MTWichita welcomes back this upbeat and colorful Tony Award winning "Best Musical." Although Annie's "hard knock life" has its challenges this scrappy kid refuses to let her circumstances get her down. Pretty soon, everyone from rich Oliver Warbucks to President Franklin Roosevelt has been changed by her resilience and positive attitude. A perfect show for the whole family, this great Broadway treat is packed with wonderful songs, delightful comedy, and a bracing dose of optimism.

CURTAINS
August 4-8

CURTAINS is a recent Broadway Tony-winner celebrating the musical comedy. From John Kander and Fred Ebb (the creators of Cabaret, Chicago, and New York, New York) comes this murder mystery musical, set backstage at Boston's Colonial Theatre in 1959. During out-of-town previews for the new western musical "Robbin' Hood," the leading lady is murdered, and everyone is a suspect.
