A Sad Day In Pantoland.#1

Peter Robbins, one of half of what is regarded as the best double act of Ugly Sisters that the British theatre has ever known, passed away suddenly today, April 15th, aged just 56.
Together with his 'Ugly' business partner they pulled the hair and tore up the ball invites of some of pantos most famous Cinders. They also saw off a good few Prince Charmings!
They have been terrifying kids for the last three decades in all the number one theatres across the country. Requests that they returned for the next time Cinderella was to play were done years in advance.
They had the most expensive wardrobe of costumes imaginable and each year brought new and more daring creations.
Besides working all year round for the upcoming pantos Peter was a full time professional puppet master. He worked on 'The Muppet Show' back in the 1970s and 80s and also worked on all the Muppet movies. Recent movies included 'The Narnia Series' and 'Harry Potter'.
A lovely guy with a gentle heart of gold.
Where do you go when a partner dies like that is beyond my thoughts at the moment but for now my thoughts are with his partner, Simon, his friends and family and of course, Nigel.

Peter and Nigel ran a website dedicated to the history of pantomime and their search for new items was endless.
Here is the link, but it is just one page at the moment in tribute to Peter.
http://www.its-behind-you.com/
It contains amazing historic pieces, not just about pantomime but the theatre world too.

A Sad Day In Pantoland.
With Brian Conley, who they did many pantos with as Buttons.

They were the major contributors to this fascinating book on the history of pantomime.
