Oh my God, I f*cking LOVE Nicolas Colicos!! His wife is so funny... she dresses like a ginger Debbie McGee. I like Chris Jarman too. He made a pass at a friend of mine once.

Sheila Hancock is the most perfect casting for this part and London gets her in a big musical again, at last!
Ian Lavender is a great all round actor.
Dear Julia Sutton, yet another West End veteran back on stage in a big show!
Now with the casting up this show will suddenly be taken a little more seriously.
Suddenly I'm very interested in this show!

I'm pretty sure Ms Hancock made sure she wasn't walking into some possible turkey.
She's a class act.

The wondrous Ms Hancock will be 76 by the time the show hits the stage and I bet you you wont get a sign at the entrance to the London Palladium saying she only does 6 shows a week.
Maggie Smith was about 53 when she made the movie.

From Sweeney Todd to Sister Act via Cabaret- what a musical career!

And don't forget Miss Hannigan. I've seen her in all of them so I'll definitely be seeing this as well.

Going a bit off message.

The Palladium is a big theatre to fill, especially with a brand new show and this maybe a bit American, but I cannot help but to think this show you do two month try out before being unleashed on the public!

There are a lot of people thinking the same. Not that it should do an out of town try out but just that its a big show to open cold at the Palladium.
In the last 24hrs my opinion of how this will do has change with the cast that we now have.
That being said....
'Priscilla' will knock this out of the park - no probs!

Sister Act has had several workshops and readings in liu of a try out, together with a long rehearsal period and previews too! Hopefully that'll be enough!

I agree with you with the extended try out and workshops, with a great cast I understand!

Try out is very much an American concept and obviously does not make a show immune from criticism. Nothing is better than gauging an audience reaction from actually running the show, also the show is going to be reviewed by the local press, what city the show is going to be tried out in, so good method of doing pre-opening reaction and tweaking before the show is brought to London.

I give it till Jan '10 personally. I also worry for Priscilla- I'm not yet convinced it will survive long-term here.
