It has been announced today that Cabaret will close on 21st June, not much notice for a closure! Any thoughts?

re: Cabaret to close

As unpopular, artistically, as this production has been, when it closes in 2 weeks time it will have run nearly 3 times as long as the original London production did back in 1968 at the Palace Theatre.
That production had Judi Dench (above) as Fl. Sally Bowles

The official website hasn't
put up a post of its closure,
however nor has the GWTW site...
is it definately closing on the 21st?
It says it's still booking until September,
I know that means nothing but stil; :S
I actually quite enjoyed this production,
I saw Alistar McGowan as Emcee, he was perfect,
and so was Amy Nuttall as Sally.
Perhaps it isn't the best reincarnation
of Cabaret, but I think it is
perfectly enjoyable all the same.
I am a big fan of the show,
but this was actually the first time
I'd seen it on stage, and I did like it.
My favourite production judging on the
recording and images etc.
is probably the Studio 54 / Donamr one,
seems like the best version to date.

Btw Judi Dench looks perfect for Sally :)

While I'm not disputing that 'Cabaret' probably will be closing in a few weeks, I would point out that "booking until" dates are not the same as "closing on" dates. Just for the sake of arguing, really. It's had a pretty good run, considering. ^_^

Booking dates are just box office guide lines and publicity gimmicks. 'Cabaret' will be using 'final 2 weeks ' any day now in its advertising. Any one who has booked for shows up until September will simply get refunded.
Its the Longest ever run of this show in the UK.

Now I'm regretting that I didn't go to see this revival because I had fond memories of the production I saw a number of years ago at the Watermill ca. 1999? or 2000?. I've seen lots and lots of musicals and plays since but that one just stuck in my head. The Emcee was impressive but I don't even know who he was.

I wouldn't even have recognised Judi from that photie.

I would love to see her and Liza duet the title song.
