So pleased for In The Heights and for Les Liaisons Dangereuses and Boeing Boeing.

Soooooooooooo funny that Cry Baby got some nods when the show as a car crash.Like i said on the broadway board, the fact they hav picked Cry Baby over Little Mermaid and Young Frankenstein is hilarious, they may as well just have thrown a bag of crap at Disney and Mel Brooks and pointed and laughed hahaha

I really want Xanadu to win Best Musical, it would just go against everything people thought when it first opened!

Very surprised at Cry Baby.

Lots of suprises however!

I think Xanadu will go home empty handed

In the Heights will beat it for Best Musical, best Score

Lupone will win for Best Actress

the only 1 it may have a shot at is Book

I really would have thought, despite its tepid reviews A Catered Affair would have at least been nominated for best musical over Passing Strange and Xanadu.

I never saw it been nominated over Xanadu which received rave reviews and Passing Strange which was one of the best reviewed shows this season, but i did see it nominated over the universally panned Cry Baby 9even though a Catered Affairs reviews were not much better)

While I'm not surprised that Little Mermaid wasn't nominated for best musical I'm surprised that they chose Cry Baby as best musical. I ahve a feeling that ITH will scoop most of nominations.

The Best Actress category is a toughie as it got Patti LuPone and Jenna Russell. Personally I would like to see Jenna win but it could go either way.

I saw a number from Passing Strange on The View today, ugh...but maybe it was just me. If the votes from the touring theatre managements count this one will not win the Tony. After last year win, they will be looking to book a tour of something a little closer to a "normal" musical.

Well they've over looked all the 'normal musicals' this year. What were they thinking.

They totally got it right actually by skipping the "normal" musicals.

Granted, I had HUGE reservations of Passing Strange but when I finally saw it, it was NOTHING from what I expected (and I was already expecting different but I was thinking pretentious tedious different). It was simply amazing and truly theatrical.

I think In the Heights will win though, its super lovable. Not perfect but incredibly endearing.

Xanadu is a riot and SHOULD win Best Book but I think it will get passed over.
Anyways, so glad Young Frankenstein got skipped. It was tedious. It was exactly what i thought Passing Strange would be.

I'm glad all the Brit stuff got tons (Boeing Boeing, 39 steps, Sunday!)

It always seems to me that every year in either the catagory of best musical revival or best musical there is something that is there thhat shouldn't be.

This year that goes to Cry Baby.

I think it should have gone to Catered Affair. Keep in mind this. That a catered affair is very flawed. I haven't seen it yet but that is what is being said across the boards on the broadway forum. And that is what is keeping me from seeing it. But, I wonder if it was too flawed for the Tony comittie's taste so they decided to not give it the nom.

That being said Winston, go and see it! Its a beautiful little show unlike anything on Broadway and that alone should take you to see it.

I'm glad Chris Fitzgerald and Andrea Martin were recognized for YF.

Suprised by Cry-baby's nom, but it still won't persuade me to give it a try, I'm afraid.

I do think Douglas Carter-bean deserves the Tony for his Xanadu book- there are some priceless gags in there.

Huge surprise the nominations, Catered affair and Young Frankenstein huge upset.....
Patti to win her 2nd Tony for a career defining performance, saw it twice and loved it as i loved Laura and Boyd.

Saw The Homecoming, Raul was brilliant, Eve I didn't for a moment think was strong enough for Actress nod....

In the Heights, this years Spring Awakenings , could win alot or nothing, it will go either way....

Thought August would do better, glad to see The Country girl didn't because i found it so awfully bad, Morgan Freeman let me down big time.......

Love the Tony's. exciting hey x

its funny that... because at the time i wasnt that fond of cry baby when i saw it in april, (other than the choreography.... which if it doesn't win is criminal), but 6 weeks later im still finding myself singing along to the songs. there's something very catchy about them, which is why i'm not surprised its got a few nods. and the energy of the cast you couldn't knock as they really did seem to give it their all when i saw it.

Young frankenstein however.... bore bore bore in the theatre (mimicking roll in the hay for those of you who've seen it)..... it was rubbish. had it not have been for the fact we were with some cast members friends when we saw it, we'd have left in the interval. it was awful. vaudeville is old. i don't think there's a place for it in todays musical theatre other than in long running shows. and when its done badly (which in my opinion this was) it makes it unbearable to watch.

i'd have liked to have seen cat on a hot tin roof in there for something. but obviously the americans don't like it.

but im really not surprised cry baby is in there for a few nods.
