Why the missing threads? #1
Posted: 4/13/08 at 10:03am
Maybe its because there are some people on the threads who spend their time insulting others taste, posting vulgar photos (a la Darius last week - I'm surprised you weren't kicked off for that) and generally making this board a one or two man show. Its for all and it seems to have turned into a couple of people in particular trying to take over the site by posting on EVERY thread and by ordering people around with - LETS HAVE JUST ONE OLIVER THREAD - but lets have 8 separate ones about one person's trip to America. For god's sake man - everyone has different tastes, if we were all the same nothing new on stage would ever have a chance.

As I'm sure I'll get called names after this at least I'm happy to have voiced my opinion.

Thankyou and goodnight.

Grow up! its an open board and people can do what they like! its a shame people like you are on here.,. Everyone else gets along. Who posted 8 threads about America eh???
You dont say anything about the hard core porn that gets put on the Broadway board. You are the only one to bring this up what sad life you and Big Fat Blonde must lead.
The threads that are missing were normal everyday threads that a lot of people had contributed to.
You, you contribute nothing! Nothing!
Lets see what the others have to say to you!

Proving my point about getting insulted immediately about having an opinion which is different from yours. YOU are the insulting one on here who take over it and these words only make you angry because they are TRUE. Shame on you, you are supposed to be a grown up.

And with regards to the photo you posted - I feel it was totally uncalled for to post a photo of Darius' genetalia on here - so you GROW UP. If i want porn I'll search the net for porn.

And its you who posts everytime you go overseas. Every time you fart you have to post a message to tell everyone on here what a clever boy you've been.

So keep to discussing theatre on here, tell us what you've seen as sometimes you are quite interesting, but c'mon, we dont need to know what time your plane was, where you ate etc etc. Its rather tiresome.

And the message board is marked WEST END - so no, its not an open board for you to tell us what colour your hair is this week.

Oh, and stop victimising myself and big fat blonde - you only dislike us as we're the only ones who dare to tell you how self absorbed you are - soon you'll write you own musical all about yourself and you know who'd watch it.

YOU - no one else.

Youre making things up as you write on here -how hilarious! Look at what your saying!!! hahahahah
Grow up and go to bed like you said you were. If you dont like it on here then dont come here- so simple! NOBODY else complains NOBODY except you. So off to your porn site as you said!
YOUR THE ONE THROWING INSULTS!

Can I say, both of you are pathetic, this message board is here for people to hear about LONDON THEATRE NEWS from other people and so everyone can have there say and voice an audience response, it's not for general chatter, and it's not for everyone to be friends, yeh it's nice to get along, but at the end of the day, for example, i'd rather know when and where legally blonde is likely to open, rather than, not naming any names here "Oh when I saw it on Broadway..." I dont care about that, thats not the point of this, so can you both grow up and realise the purpose of this board and stop making it hell for everyone else by putting bitchy comments.

Im not too keen on you saying you've seen Rent Remix 10 times OK! where is it written that its not for chatter?
One day you'll be posting on here what you've seen n Broadway i'm sure! Everyone on here except you is interested in what the other people have seen - it is aboard about theatre and people who love theatre for goodness sake!

I DIDNT START THIS!

What i meant was people start chatting about random stuff that has nothing to do with theatre, IE this post, that's what the off-topic board is about, I have nothing wrong with peoples comments, i LOVE them, I'd never see a show if everyone on here said it was rubbish, but sometimes people ask questions which never get replyed to, because others go off the topic, theres a Broadway board as well, which is for Broadway, the point of that is so people don't get mixed up between the two! And you may not have started this, but you continued it, whats the point, can't this whole thread be deleted, ignored and we all focus on what this site is about, West End Theatre!

fair enuf! If someone from here goes to Ny and see's shows then how do they tell the ones on the West End board about it -people are genuinly interested in what others see- whats wrong with that? Next time youre on here asking questions think about how other people see that. You just said you come on here for theatre news so why the questions? As for pointless posts- can you mention some for us! -if theres something that doesn't interest you on here, pass it by - i do on many posts!

Ok i'm not posting after this cause i dont want to be sucked into this cause this is exactly what im saying isn't right, but by asking questions people can find things out, and I dont have a problem with pointless threads, its just pointless posts which get mixed up with everything else! but i must admit, Wkd, i think that by creating this, you are quite a horrible person as there is no need to publicly post something like this, if you have a problem with someones attitude you can privatley message them, not have a go at them for everyone to see, its just creating a huge, unneccesary mess, i do agree, why have posts gone missing, but at the end of the day, this thread is stupid and childish!

Hi im sorry about this but i may be just a meer 16 year old theatregoer and poeple can say that as a student i make up complet crap but wickedboy2 you made a post which i find was incorrect you clearly stated that oliver would open spetember/october when infact it will open december/january and Chgriffiths is making a valid point and that if you wish to talk about what you saw on broadway you should disscuss it on the bradway board and poeple who wish to enjoy london news should use the west end board. everyone has their own voice and opinion and we have to listen to that and i think its important not to get angry over someones opinion! the evita theared in which a picture of darius appeared in a kilt kneeled down to a kid which his penis showing didn apear on the evita thread and all i wante to tell people was that evita was to embark on a new national uk tour as is spamalot as is seven brides for seven brothers infact but people use these threads to be harsh sometimes and the thing is its just someones opinion so next time you want to voice an opinion ad someone doesnt like it you have to bite the bullet wickedboy2 and not think that your always right cause ya know what ya aint is caled opinion and thats what i and CHGriffiths and WKD are doing you just think your right and im sorry that i have to say this but thats my opinion learn to respect others opinions not just push them aside like you have with these other 2 Posters on this board. CHGriffiths may have seen rent remixed ten times but that is a show he enjoys i have seen many shows many times and still enjoy them every time because i find something differtent to enjoy about it may it be a cast change a small sent change a change in orcestrations i love going to see musicals and i enjoy posting on these boards but sometimes i dont post because i feels people ignore other peoples personal opinions. i am not a fan of rent remixed but if it had lasted that little bit longer i would have deffently gone to see it because from people i know i heard good things about it so please just listen to other people.

Hey.

First of all, I'm based on the Off-Topic Board, where random crap is tolerated, but irhgtfully shouldn't be here.

Nonetheless, this thread is turning into one-way traffic against certain users, and will probably be dleeted soon anyway.

Wkd, YOU ARE A 'CHORUS MEMBER'. That means you've made less than 50 posts on this board, and you've only been here since September. How dare you attack well established users and try to act like you run the place. When you too have made 6,000 posts, I'll take your opinion on how things should be run. Until such time, be a part of the group here on this relatively small West End board, or leave. You're no big loss. I'd love to hear some good comments from you, and hope you decide to stay and be one of the gang, so to speak.

Mattie, (as a fellow 16 year old), whether or not WickedBoy2 said something that was incorrect in detail wasn't a personal assault on anyone, it was a mistake, which happened to be commonly accepted at the time. Don't worry too much about that.

WickedBoy2, I didn't see the picture, so I can't really be judge here, but I've seen some pretty horrible things on these boards, nothing surprises me. Play nice.

If anyone has a problem you can PM me, this thread probably won't still be here next time I'm online.

I only speculated that the show would open Sep /Oct A few days later a national newspaper stated the same time scale. It was made clear what a job it would be to get Lord Of The Rings out of Drury Lane. I wasnt wrong in what i said.
Its amazing you can bring up little things like that instead of posting something valid!

This is a curious thread, and one I have been in 2 minds to enter. For me, the key points seem to be
a) people are criticizing Wickedboy in particular for being INTOLERANT- yet they started a thread criticizing someone else's views, and not vice versa
b) I assume that we know that a messageboard generally hosts OPINIONS. I don't think anyone rational is trying to suggest their word is law, but it can be fun to engage in robust argument. I have seen Wickedboy and Songanddanceman go at each other like scalded cats at times over different shows, but they can still get along. It's not like anyone stabbed anyone else!
c)these boards do not observe the Dewey system or some other form of categorization. There is inevitably CROSS-OVER of topics which could belong on Broadway or West End message boards- after all, many shows transfer. I don't think anyone has the authority to decide what belongs on which board. Actually, I appreciate hearing about shows which may be coming to London, or how shows are prospering which started in the West End. And in terms of suggesting organisations for threads, that's what they were from my reading: suggestions.
(Incidentally, sorry for the capitalization of key words- I would use italics if they were available)
To summarize, then, I would say that it seems to me that those people who are complaining about others' practices, ought to ask what right they have to impose their own preferences.

Slightly aside- and not wanting to get caught up in the minutae- citing the Darius photo as pornography indicates a dogmatic and narrow world-view in terms of what constitutes pornography and what does not. Wikipedia defines it as:
Pornography or porn is the explicit depiction of sexual subject matter, especially with the sole intention of sexually exciting the viewer
Personally, I don't think the picture fits this definition either in terms of content of intention. a) I think Darius would be horrified if it were suggested that there was any sexual interaction taking place in the photo, and b) My reading is that the picture was included for HUMOROUS effect, rather than titillation

Fundamentally, though, I wish that the issues had been raised via the PM facility, since, by entering the publc forum they have become both unnecessarily confrontational and also implicitly expected other users to become involved.

There we are. Looking forward to talking theatre next.

I agree. The original poster posted with the aim of having a go a people with whom he has an issue ie) this person is totally incapable of accepting people have a different opinion than themselves. Perhaps jealousy too in that this person has nothing whatsoever to contribute to the message board so feels it is ok to hit out at others.

Or else this person is posting purely to wind up others and gets off on this - hence doing so in such a public manner rather than using private messages. Maybe they don't get enough love in their lives and get turned on by the thought of the attention they might get on here.

Either way, this poster has proved themselves to be worth ignoring in future although I think schools go back tomorrow so he will be too busy with their SATs!

Presuming he's British, that would be GCSEs or A-Levels. re: Why the missing threads?

Devonian, good post. just for future use, you can get italics by placing i in between <> before the section to italicized, and /i in the same brackets afterwards.

I agree with vmlinnie with all what he has said, (I must say though I still hate your picture though, but that is me personally)! hehe. The 1st message.

I have found Wickedboys knowledge on theatre as he has worked in the industry and has personal interest a great asset on here.

I love here about West End Theatre and national tours, I love to here about New York as well and other places that musical theatre plays. People contribute on here about plays which is not for me, but I do not say anything, this is a small message board compared to Broadway one. Now this has given me a great excuse to give my Billy Elliott thread a bump.

What I really want to say and I am a mere Chorus Member there is room for all theatre and opinions on here, but not critism or bullying!

Bruce, sorry, really, I didn't know. I'm living in Ireland, I'm not entirely up to date on the British education system. Apologies!

Phantom, thanks for the kind words. Sorry about the photo, I picked it randomly when I arrived here. I was 14 then, so perhaps that's why. It's part of my identity on the Off-Topic Board though, so it stays!

Sorry, isn't that "Ireland" not "ireland"? In view of your post just now about Billy Elliot (not Elliott)....

It's a big pet hate, too, and yes, it's arguably just as trivial and anal! Lol :)
