Swansea Grand Theatre
Swansea Grand Theatre- a view i saw many, many times!
Manchester Palace Theatre
Manchester Palace Theatre in the early 1900s
The New Theatre, Cardiff
THE PALACE THEATRE MANCHESTER. The original building dates back to 1891 tho very little remains of that theatre today due to extensive rebuilds in 1913 and partly in 1979. The 1913 rebuild altered the auditorium into pretty much what we see today (one of the most beautiful in the country) and the 1979 refurbishment saw the office block behind the theatre being torn down to extend the stage by 20 ft and the fly tower raised by 12 ft. Both the Opera House and the Palace were very close to being demolished in the early 70s but after much protest they were both saved with the Palace chosen as the major touring theatre for Manchester
MANCHESTER PALACE THEATRE ....sometime in 1953 someone went crazy with a box of tiles and covered up this beauty and left what we see today. Hopefully, one day Manchester will see the error of its ways and return the Palace to its original splendor.
As beautiful as it is, i find the Opera House a very cold house compared to the Palace.
