Anyone with a digital camera must have some favourite photos of theatres theyve visited over the years! The Broadway board has a post thats in full swing and is very interesting- BUT we know we have the most glorious theatres here, not just in London but all over the UK.
Post your pics here....

Inside and out.

Loving these posts !

The photo's a great. Thanks for making them available for us all to look at.

It's so good to see people really loving the theatres themselves and enjoying the decorations and power of these "Cathederals of Culture"!

Anyone got anymore ?! Could spend hours looking at them - in fact I have done!

re: Cathedrals Of Culture

THE PALACE THEATRE MANCHESTER.
The original building dates back to 1891 tho very little remains of that theatre today due to extensive rebuilds in 1913 and partly in 1979. The 1913 rebuild altered the auditorium into pretty much what we see today (one of the most beautiful in the country) and the 1979 refurbishment saw the office block behind the theatre being torn down to extend the stage by 20 ft and the fly tower raised by 12 ft. Both the Opera House and the Palace were very close to being demolished in the early 70s but after much protest they were both saved with the Palace chosen as the major touring theatre for Manchester

MANCHESTER PALACE THEATRE
....sometime in 1953 someone went crazy with a box of tiles and covered up this beauty and left what we see today. Hopefully, one day Manchester will see the error of its ways and return the Palace to its original splendor.

what i love at the Palace is that the original stone arch way that was in the foyer is still intact and looks beautiful. The foyer was heavily remodeled so that arch way (or whatever its called lol) has been moved to the circle bar.

re: Cathedrals Of Culture

As beautiful as it is, i find the Opera House a very cold house compared to the Palace.

I think the Palace is a lot more of an elegant theatre (though im a little biased lol) I just find the opera house a bit erm green lol
