Auditions (for London (as some will leave in November) and the tour) are currently going on, friend of mine had his yesterday.
As far as I know Scarlett won't do the tour.

I thought it was starting in Plymouth?

A previous thread on this board said that.

Do you know if it will be coming to Plymouth now?

Hey, does anyone know when we can expect a list of tour dates? I'm still hoping the show will come to Dublin. Are the sets big? If so there's actually only one theatre in the country big enough to take it.

Damn!..... The sets in town is pretty darn big lots of hydraulics and traps..i'm presuming they'll use the london set and they probably cut bits for different venues (if they have too)...

I'd guess it would be like the first Miss Saigon and Chitty tours and only go to venues big enough, and for long stays.

It will proberbly sit down for up to 3 months in each theatre. The designer has already been quoted as saying it was rather easy to adapt the set to tour in the US and only parts of what is seen in London would have to be adapted.

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

Scarlett (and Gavin Creel) will stay till January 12th, 2008. She won't do the tour.

It is a new Mary they are Casting and they are 100percent using the West End Set so the show will only be playing venues which can fit it in like the Miss Saigon Original Tour did

They have already been to the theatres inc the Palace Manchester and the Hippodrome Birmingham to measure up etc.

Reading this it makes me realize how here in the states there is no shortage of huge touring theatres. I don't recall if they announced for a us toru of Poppins ( if they didn't then they are going to soon. All of disney's shows have toured sans Tarzan.)I don't think that here they would have to change anything for the sets only because there are a lot of theatres around the country that can hadel the size of Poppin's sets. I do think that they might do what the wicked tour is doing. The wicked tour realizes that not all theatres can hold trap doors so they created alternative enterences for the theatres that don't have trapped doors. I know for example that they use the same flying machine that they use for defying gravity that they use for the touring enternce for no good deed.

That being said, Poppins has had a long helthy run in London. I am sure that the broadway production will be milked into the ground. It has become one of my favorite shows on broadway. I still get goosebumps watching whoever is on as Poppins fly above the audeince and watching Gavin's porcineum dance even though I know it is comming. I am not suprised that they brought it to broadway considering the fact that when I read the original london review in the new ork times theat they would bring it to broadway at some point. I am glad they did.

I do wish that they still recorded the orginal broadway cast. Not to dismiss the OLC but I love some of the voices in the OBC and wished they preserved them. Oh well. At least there is youtube :)

Strallen's site says she'll be with the show till the end int he West End.
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

After I posted I looked it up and found out that they did announce the Poppins US tour a while ago. I still find it interesting how touring shows are treated differently between US and the UK. I mean it does make sense considering the fact that you can drive in and spend a day in London but you cannot do that for broadway. Also, for US tours they figure out a way to make the sets work with each theatre. They wouldn't do anything like set up shop for a few months at one spot. It is most likely because England is smaller and you can ewasuilly drive around to anywhere.
