The entr'acte to Love Never Dies is one of the best bits of the show, despite the audience sitting there chatting over it. It races through all the great melodies from the show, before ending with a huge triumphant reprise of Till I hear You sing, coupled with a reprise of an arrangement of the original All I Ask of You then a big finish of Only For You, its really quite splendid, shame the rest of the show isn't as good as the entr'acte! Phantom 1 has a splendid entr'acte also, as does My Fair Lady (The Embassy Waltz), Ragtime (if just a reprise of the Ragtime melody before a different ending), Chess (The Golden Bangkok of the original, original London cast, which is very long, full of reprises of the score, and full of keychanges),and finally Merrily We Roll Along's, my favourites I would think. They seem to be on the way out though, shame as I think it's the only chance the orchestra have a chance to show off.

I really like Mamma Mias, mainly because not only is it a great collection of the music, but it starts so suddenly and loudly the audience jump out their seats! Same with the overture actually.

The 2004 revival (ANYTHING GOES) is actually the 1988 Lincoln Center revival orchestration.

London production of 'Theyre Playing Our Song'.
The Broadway recording doesn't have the entr' acte on it!

Yes it does, on the vinyl it was Side Two Track One. The London Cast has a very brief chorus of the title track (as does the Australian Cast album). Not mad on the London recording as they "trimmed" the orchestra size. My vote has to go to the Broadway Cast Entr'acte as it sounds BIG.

Another one I like is the IRENE entr'acte. Sadly not recorded. GYPSY s good too.

It isn't on the CD?!? The only CD I have of SONG is the Australian Cast. Did you know that the Original Broadway Cast CD was recorded in Los Angeles in November of 1978 during the show's tryout. Marvin Hamlisch was unsure that the three girls in the show may not produce the harmonies he wanted so during the afternoon that they recorded sitting in a limo in the carpark next to the studio were Liza Minnelli, Bonnie Pointer and, I think it was either Cher or Carly Simon...just in case.

Another vote for Beauty and the Beast. Maybe not the best ever, but definitely one of my favorites. It doesn't hurt that the score includes so many great melodies to pick from. The Overture is great too. It's shameful that it's never been officially recorded.

Was the B & B Overture added later in the run? It wasn't in the show when I saw it.

Mama, the SONG entr'acte is on the Broadway CD, check again.

I'm not sure if it was added latter in the run or not. I only saw it latter so I can't say if it was there when the show initially opened, but it's part of the licensed score now.

Its not on mine Alterego, maybe it was added later. I have a first print of the CD from what must be 20 years ago. Strange.

How strange mama. On the CD it comes between Just For Tonight and When Your In My Arms.
