My dad loves Mamma Mia, didnt think he would but he just sees it for what it is, a great fun night out. In fact loads of staight men who have been dragged to it with their wives end up really enjoying it...not that they necessarily admit it! lol

You go to La Cage and see families enjoying a musical that has gay men as central characters, you think times have changed, you take pride in your identity. And then you read a column by this oaf.

But as one of the commentators observes...

"I love the way Clarkson would have us believe he doesn't have breasts."

Ummm....I'm having trouble finding anything to disagree with the man about regarding his analysis of Mamma Mia. Two and a half hours with coach parties dancing to Abba is indeed a vision of hell.

As for his dislike of the form...fair enough, the man is entitled to his opinions.

I laughed at that comment too. They should have cast him in La cage!

He might be entitled to his opinion on the subject of musical theatre in general and "Mamma Mia" in particular, but to hang his entire article on his daughters choice of birthday treat is cheap and unforgiveable.

I read this on Sunday and thought Clarkson is an idiot (as usual) but the bit about dancing bingo wings in front of him did get some sympathy and an amused smile as I had a similar experience at the panto the other week!
