Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (La Cage)#1
Posted: 8/12/09 at 5:04am
Does anyone know if the Playhouse has a policy on filling the cabaret table seats at La Cage Aux Folles if they remain unsold at the start of a performance? Seeing as they are integral to parts of the show I can't imagine they'd leave them empty...?

I think so... I got 2 seats at a table at student rate, which is only sold after 6.

Is the policy for student tickets just whatever is left at 6 then? (thinking ahead to Sept when I'll have a student ID again!)
Maybe I'm on nobody's side http://phdconfessions.blogspot.com/

They will move people there within the half if they arn't sold-which is hit and miss. A friend of mine went and was asked if she wanted to sit at a table and she almost ran home with fear. I think she was expecting to be pulled up and made to sing and dance!
She refused and has been mad at herself ever since.

Thanks for the info. I'm at a table seat in a couple of weeks time and at least I know all the other cabaret seats are likely to be filled (less chance of being 'picked on'!), but part of me wishes I had waited in the hope of an upgrade. I wonder how the ushers pick out who to offer spare seats to anyway - is outrageous dress considered an advantage or a disadvantage?

In outrageous dress one should always consider oneself at an advantage!

No, its not the ushers, its at the discretion of the House Manager, as is all upgrading.

I thought you looked more divine than outrageous in your Priscilla get-up John (esp compared to some of the other outfits you've posted pictures of). re: Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (La Cage)

I'm leaving for London on Saturday and have a ticket for "La Cage." Where are the table seats? Had no idea that the theatre had that, as it's not on the seating chart when I bought my ticket.

They're right in front of the stalls. There's a pic here: http://tinyurl.com/nhjb34 where you can (just) see how it's set up. The stage is quite low so you don't have to look up at all even from there, but they don't block the front row of the stalls' view of the stage either.

I bought a ticket to see the show in October through Ambassador Tickets, and their seating chart included the tables. Unfortunately, they were showing as all sold otherwise I might have purchased one, so I had to "settle" for the front row. re: Empty Chairs at Empty Tables (La Cage)

Which reminds me: The ticket I ordered was for October 3, a Saturday night. I had wanted to get a ticket for Monday October 5, but neither Ticketmaster nor See had that performance listed, and the Ambassador site only had upper circle which I didn't really want. Is there a special performance on that night?

The tables look a lot safer than at the Menier...I was innocently sat watching watching the show when a Cagele leapt onto the table and I disappeared under his/her frock.

I came back up for air having uttered a slightly perturbed "arghhhh.."
