Top Hat, which opened in London last year starring Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen, has picked up seven Oliviers nominations, as revealed this morning.

The show is up for Best New Musical, and both leads have been honoured, as have sound designer Gareth Owen, choreographer Bill Deamer, costume designer Jon Morrell and set designer Hildegard Bechtler.

Producer Kenny Wax told BWW:UK: "We are absolutely thrilled to have received seven nominations for the forthcoming Olivier Awards on April 28th . It is great testament to the hard work of our wonderful creative team and our excellent cast.

"Top Hat really is the 'happiest show in town', perhaps that is not surprising when it boasts 15 classic songs by Irving Berlin and based on RKO's wonderful movie which of course starred Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers."

Currently Tony and Olivier award nominated Gavin Lee and Broadway leading lady Kristen Beth Williams star as Jerry Travers and Dale Tremont.
