Get ready for some '80s-inspired tunes in the background of the upcoming EDDIE THE EAGLE biopic. The Daily Mail writes that FINDING NEVERLAND composer Gary Barlow has gathered a group of '80s pop stars to write and perform songs for the film.

EDDIE THE EAGLE, which tells the story of Michael 'Eddie the Eagle' Edwards, the UK's first ski jumper to enter the Winter Olympics in 1988, will hit the big screen in 2016, directed by Dexter Fletcher from a script by Sean Macaulay.

Taron Egerton stars in the title role, with Hugh Jackman as 'Bronson Peary', a coach based on real-life ski expert Chuck Berghorn, and Christopher Walken also in the cast.

Fletcher and producer Matthew Vaughn told Barlow they wanted the soundtrack to "reflect the era" of the movie.

Vaughn joked to the Mail, "Gary has become like the George Martin [Beatles producer] of this album." He added, "'Gary has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He knows a lot of the participants and has a great knowledge of the music of the Eighties."

Alison Moyet, OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark), Ultravox, ABC, Howard Jones and Spandau Ballet are in talks to write songs for the album. Some will perform their own numbers, while others' will be sung by different artists.

Barlow and Tim Firth's musical THE GIRLS is currently preparing for its run in Leeds this autumn, FINDING NEVERLAND is still running strong on Broadway, and EDDIE THE EAGLE started filming this spring in the Alps.
