Willy Russell's Our Day Out Retuns to Royal Court Liverpool August 27

Following its massive sell out success in 2009 Willy Russell's Our Day Out The Musical returns to the Royal Court Liverpool from 27 August - 9 October 2010, with press performances from 2 September. Our Day Out The Musical is directed by Bob Eaton, designed by Mark Walters with lighting Ian Scott, musical direction by Howard Gray and choreography by Beverley Norris-Edmunds.

Mrs. Kay's Progress Class are off to Alton Towers - until Mr. Briggs gets on board! The destination might have changed but there is no stopping the fun on a trip for the class that always gets left behind. With a cast of five who are accompanied by over 30 children as well as chickens, snakes, goats and sheep, Our Day Out The Musical returns to the Royal Court Liverpool following its sell-out season last year.

The cast includes Pauline Daniels (Mrs. Kay), Stephen Fletcher (Mark), Mark Moraghan (Mr. Briggs) and Georgina White (Katie).

Our Day Out was originally commissioned by the BBC and was first broadcast in 1976 as part of Play of the Week series. Subsequently Willy Russell adapted his screen play for the stage where Bob Eaton directed the premiere at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool in 1983. In 2009 Willy Russell rewrote Our Day Out as a full scale musical, premiering at Royal Court Liverpool to wide acclaim.

As well as Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine, both of which were made into major award-winning feature films, playwright, lyricist and composer Willy Russell is the author of the long running West End hit Blood Brothers. His other work includes John, Paul, George, Ringo and Bert; Stags and Hens; One for the Road and Breezeblock Park. His writing for television includes Our Day Out and One Summer. Russell's plays have been performed in many countries across the globe, winning countless awards as well as academic honours. Willy Russell's Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine transfer from the Menier Chocolate Factory to the West End, opening at the Trafalgar Studios in July.

Her TV credits include Brookside, Bread, The Street Blue Murder, The Comedians and Saturday Royal. More recently she toured the UK with The Ricky Tomlinson Laughter Show in 2008 and in 2009 she appeared at the Royal Court Liverpool in Dirty Dusting.

Stephen Fletcher's theatre credits include the title role in Hamlet and Oberon and Theseus in A Midsummer Night's Dream both for Lodestar Theatre as well as Breezeblock Park for Liverpool Playhouse, Betwixt for the King's Head, Stags & Hens at Royal Court, Liverpool, Mary Stuart at the Donmar Warehouse, the 24 Hour Plays at the Old Vic and The Borrowers for West Yorkshire Playhouse. His television and film credits include The Liverpool Nativity for BBC 3, All About Me for the BBC, Kerching for the BBC and ITV's Heartbeat.

Mark Moraghan's theatre credits include Come Fly With Me at the Millenium Centre Cardiff, Twopence to Cross the Mersey for the Liverpool Empire, Bouncers, Little Match Girl, Barbarians, and Arabian Nights all for the Unity Theatre, Fears and Miseries of the Third Reich for The Liverpool Playhouse and the Young Vic, The Beaux Stratagem for Liverpool Playhouse and The Jungle Book for Cleveland Theatre Company. His extensive television credits include Heartbeat, The Bill, Where The Heart Is, Holby City, Brookside, Peak Practice, Real Women, London's Burning, Against All Odds, Emmerdale and Liars. His film credits include Stepdad, The Last Bloodline and Judge Dredd. His debut album Moonlight's Back In Style was released on Linn Records.

Georgina White trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 2008. She was also a member of the National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Music Theatre. Her professional theatre credits include Rubella de Zees in Cinderella for Theatre Clwyd, Olivia in Twelfth Night at the Gatehouse Theatre, Stafford, Ruth in Something Stupid for Camden Fringe Festival and, most recently, Bryony in Up On The Roof for Oldham Coliseum, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich and the Haymarket Theatre Basingstoke. Her television credits include M.I. High for the BBC1.

Bob Eaton has previously directed Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels, Lost Soul, Good Golly Miss Molly, Two, Stags and Hens - The Remix, On The Ledge, Council Depot Blues, Slappers And Slapheads, Our Day Out The Musical, Merry Ding Dong and A Fistful Of Collars for the Royal Court. Before becoming Artistic Director of the Liverpool Everyman in 1981, he was Associate Director of Contact Theatre in Manchester. Subsequently he was Artistic Director of the London Bubble Theatre and Director of The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.
