OVATIONS THEATRE Announces THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK Performance And Panel Discussion

By:

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
-Anne Frank

In response to recent tragic events in Charlottesville, VA, and the culture of hate given voice around the country, Ovations Theatre's student-led Actors' Helping Alliance (AHA!) will host an evening dedicated to fighting hate and discrimination.

A staged reading of The Diary of Anne Frank will be held Monday, October 23 at 7 pm at the Bender Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Washington, in Rockville, Maryland. It will feature high school students Nora Holland as Margot, Jack Rosenberg as Peter, and Shira Minsk and Josie Weinberg as Anne.

Weinberg is the founder and student leader of AHA!, which pairs thought-provoking performances with social action. "One of the great things about theater is the opportunity it gives us to have 'aha' moments: when something we see on stage connects to something in our own lives, thoughts or emotions," she says.

The reading will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ovations Director of Education and acclaimed Washington, D.C. actor Theresa Cunningham. The panel will include Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Education Director Seth Gordon-Lipkin and representatives from the Montgomery County NAACP, the Montgomery Office of Human Rights and the DC Coalition for Theatre and Social Justice.

As part of his continuing commitment to community engagement, this December, Ovations Founder and Producing Artistic Director Darnell Patrick Morris will stage the musical Parade which tells the tragic true story of Leo Frank and the founding of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

Tickets to The Diary of Anne Frank are available online at https://www.showtix4u.com/boxoffice.php?submit=Search+for+Events&begin=1542968¤t_client=10075616021014253, as well as at the door 30 minutes prior to the show.
