The Kennedy Center presents two tales of courage this April as part of its Theater for Young Audiences 2015-2016 season. Theater Unspeakable's production of Superman 2050, April 1-3, and Theater Triebwerk's Moby Dick, April 23-24, will both take place in the Kennedy Center Family Theater.

The press opening performance for Superman 2050 is Friday, April 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The press opening performance for Moby Dick is Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. The two shows are most appropriate for ages 7 and up and their families.

Superman 2050 features seven performers on a tiny platform, just three-by-seven feet, acting out Superman's latest adventure at a breakneck speed, using only their bodies and voices to create every prop, scene, character, and sound effect in the story.

The show is set in the year 2050. The Man of Steel (Superman) is about to wage battle with his dastardly arch-enemy, Lex Luthor for the future of Metropolis's beloved high-speed rail network. With high-energy transformations, arms become runaway trains, fingers become a cliff-hanging Lois Lane, and everyone lifts the hero to the top of a skyscraper with a "swoosh" and a "bing!"

The Superman 2050 cast includes director Marc Frost as Clark Kent/Superman, Breon Arzell as Lex Luther, Brittany Bookbinder as Jimmy Olsen, Lily Emerson as Bipsy, Brittany Anderson as Lois Lane, Flora Bare as Mr. White, and Thomas Wynne as Mercy.

Germany's award-winning Theater Triebwerk combines motion and music in Moby Dick, Herman Melville's epic saga. The determined crew of the Pequod-young sailor Ishmael, first mate Starbuck, and one-legged Captain Ahab-voyage across the seven seas in search of the notorious white whale.

Moby Dick is the story of Captain Ahab, who lost a leg to the whale. Driven by his thirst for vengeance Ahab chases the beast around the globe. Ruthlessly, he risks the lives of his entire crew, including innocent and trusting Ishmael, who has embarked on this, his maiden voyage to swap his landlubber's life for adventure at sea.

Three gifted actors use their bodies, ever-switching hats, and a variety of musical instruments to create excitement and suspense. A double bass and cello become everything from the creaking of the oars, to the moaning of the hull, to the elusive whale himself.
