Arena Stage and the Georgetown University Theater and Performance Studies Program formed an official partnership last year when Georgetown hosted a 2-week workshop for Moisés Kaufman's play 33 Variations. That workshop cemented a long-standing relationship, which has existed for years between Arena and Georgetown's theater department, into a strong partnership devoted to providing professional development opportunities for the future artists of American theater.

"This season 33 Variations is ready to have its world premiere at Arena Stage largely due to the workshop Arena, Tectonic Theater Project and the Georgetown Theater and Performance Studies Program put on last year," said Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith. "This mutually beneficial partnership with Georgetown expands the capabilities of Arena Stage and the university to share resources and create incomparable artistic growth for us both. We look forward to furthering our commitment to American theater together through exciting new projects again this year."

This season's first upcoming project to be explored through the partnership is Danny Hoch's new solo show Takin' Over. This series of monologues looks at modern gentrification as it relates to colonialism and "neo-feudalism" in the new millennium. Characters from invading artists, hipsters, developers and community folk who have been "living there for a long time" are explored through the eyes, ears and voice of one of the Hip-Hop generation's leading actors and playwrights.
