American Century Theater Revives O'Neill's 'Elms,' Jan. 5

William Aitkin will direct master playwright Eugene O'Neill's 1924 work Desire Under the Elms for the American Century Theater. Performances begin January 5, 2007.

The company presented O'Neill's The Emperor Jones two seasons ago to much acclaim.

O'Neill's play "follows the love and lust triangle ignited between family patriarch Ephraim Cabot, his much younger new wife Abbie, and his rebellious younger son Eben," as press notes state.

The cast includes Parker Dixon as Eben, Susan Marie Rhea as Abbie, and Kevin Adams as Ephraim. John Geoffrion and Colin Smith round out the ensemble as Eben's brothers.

Performances will take place at Theater II in the Gunston Arts Center at 2700 South Lang Street, Arlington, Virginia 22206.

Performances begin January 5th and end February 3rd. The show plays Wednesday through Saturday evening at 8 PM, with 2:30 PM matinees on January 6th, 7th, 14th, 21st, 27th, and on February 3rd.

Tickets are $23 to $29. This production is not suitable for children under 18. As always, active duty military person with ID see the show for free.
