Acclaimed trumpeter, composer, educator, and Vermont Public's Friday Night Jazz host Ray Vega returns to Northern Stage with his Afro-Caribbean Jazz Ensemble for a one-night-only performance. The ensemble brings an electrifying blend of jazz improvisation and the vibrant rhythms of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and beyond, drawing from Afro-Caribbean traditions while rooted in contemporary jazz. Vega, a native of the South Bronx, has performed and recorded with Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Mario Bauzá, and Paul Simon. He will be joined by Vermont-based musicians Jeremy Hill on bass, Geza Carr on drums, and Evan Allen on piano.
