The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science, and politics through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, it's instructing a whole new generation to "Unpack Your Adjectives" and "Do The Circulation" on the musical stage.

Broadway veteran and longtime Weston Company Member Susan Haefner directs a cast of exceptional young performers from the country's top undergraduate musical theatre programs in SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK, LIVE! With its infectious energy and classic sing-along numbers, the show has been called one of the brightest and most innovative productions of its genre. Fun for the whole family, it delivers an hour of discovery and delight to newcomers and a dose of delicious nostalgia for those who watched it on TV. All around, it's just good, clean - and educational - fun!

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has a tradition of starting its summer season with a family-friendly show featuring its Young Company members. This year a talented group of seven performers anchors the season - beginning as the effervescent SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK, LIVE! company, continuing as regulars in Weston's famed late-night cabaret, and finally appearing in key ensemble roles in August's blockbuster musical, Mamma Mia!

Like many of Weston's OtherStage season openers, the production will be a popular outing for multi-generational theatre-goers. The characters are engaging, the songs are terrific, and the set design by Edward Morris is wonderfully interactive and colorful. Haefner is a perfect fit for the piece! She's directed the Young Company in previous seasons and received accolades for her work with Castleton University and Hartford, Connecticut's Playhouse on Park. "We're in rehearsals now and it's a joyful experience! This is a tremendously talented cast and creative team," Haefner said, "and we hope audiences will laugh, sing and dance along with us, and maybe even learn little something along the way!"
