Stomping and blowing like the great big bands of yesteryear, The Sound Investment Jazz Ensemble features some of the best Middlebury College student musicians. They'll be swinging at a dance concert at Town Hall Theater on Thursday, March 11.

Town Hall Theater's big hardwood floor is the ideal place for swing dancing. "The students from the college swing dance club love to come here," says THT executive director Doug Anderson. "It's a joy to just sit back and watch them jitterbug. They are phenomenal." The Swing Dance Club will offer lessons from 7-8 pm that evening.

The Sound Investment is directed by Dick Forman, a well-known figure in Vermont jazz. He takes the group through everything from classic charts by Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington to contemporary jazz.

The event is on Thursday, March 11. Swing dance lessons begin at 7 pm, with the band kicking in at 8 pm. Tickets are $10/$6 with a college student ID, and may be purchased at 382-9222, www.townhalltheater.org, or at the THT Box Office (Noon-5, Monday-Thursday).
