Jack Ingram Plays Town Hall Theatre, 3/30
By: Nicole Rosky
When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for "Best New Male Vocalist," the thirty-something veteran with the movie-star good looks had already paid his dues by rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997.
He topped the country charts with "Wherever You Are" (#1, Billboard Country) and has landed six songs in the country Top 40, including "Love You", "That's a Man" and "Barefoot and Crazy".Ingram comes to Middlebury's Town Hall Theater for a solo show on Wednesday, March 30. It's the first country act to play Middlebury's newly-restored performing arts center."We really want to reach the country music fans in the Middlebury area," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. "If Jack Ingram pulls in a crowd then we'll want to do a lot more country."Ingram has built a reputation as a smart songwriter and a can't-miss live performer. Though he usually tours with his band, he enjoys hitting the road as a solo performer, something that brings back his days as a solo musician going from roadhouse to roadhouse. At the intimate Town Hall Theater it will be just him, his guitar, his stories and his songs.
Media sponsor for the event is Vermont's country music station WOKO.Tickets for the 7:30 performance on March 30 are $27.50, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, Noon - 5 pm) and at the door, if available.
