Douglas Anderson to Perform Poems of Robert Frost at Town Hall Theater, 4/21

By: Apr. 03, 2014

He's never acted in the theater he helped to build, but Douglas Anderson will come out of retirement as an actor to perform an evening of Robert Frost poems at Town Hall Theater.

His piece, Inner Weather: A Robert Frost Calendar, will be performed at Town Hall Theater on Monday, April 21.

Anderson has arranged Frost's nature poems to create a seamless year in New England, beginning in the spring, moving through the summer and autumn poems, experiencing the dark and brooding winter poems, and then returning once again to a glorious hard-earned springtime.

The piece has been performed at conferences and various get-togethers, and Anderson wasn't sure he'd perform the piece again. But when he saw the magnificent photos by Brett Simison of Robert Frost's cabin, now hanging in THT's Jackson Gallery, he thought it would be the perfect backdrop for this event.

"I have actually performed Inner Weather inside of the Robert Frost cabin," says Anderson. "I was sitting there, in Frost's own chair, speaking Frost's own words. It was an incredibly powerful moment for me."

Inner Weather will be performed on Monday, April 21, at 7:30 pm in the Will and Carolyn Jackson Gallery at Town Hall Theater. Tickets are $15, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) or at the door if available. Seating is limited.
