Pasek and Paul Set for Concert at Carousel Theatre for Young People, Dec 8

By:

Two of Broadway's most thrilling creators and vibrant voices touch down in Vancouver for a singular celebration of musical theatre. Presented by Carousel Theatre for Young People (CTYP), the acclaimed songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul -- known simply as Pasek and Paul -- will present An Evening with Pasek and Paul, December 8, 2014 at 8pm at The Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island. This exclusive, one-night-only concert will see the Tony Award nominees -- whose melodic styling is hailed as delicate, surprising, and musically satisfying -- perform selections from their electrifying hits including James and the Giant Peach, Edges, Dogfight, and A Christmas Story, The Musical to name a few.

"Pasek and Paul are a gifted young composing team whose innovative songwriting technique inspires and helps shape the next generation of musical theatre artists," explains Artistic Director Carole Higgins. "We are thrilled to welcome them to Vancouver. Without question their presence will personalize and add context to CTYP's performance run of James and the Giant Peach, while inspiring Vancouver's talented pool of musical theatre artists to new creative heights."

While in Vancouver, Pasek and Paul -- both under 30 years of age -- will also instruct a series of master classes (currently sold out) on musical theatre performance to a select number of enthusiasts. The master classes will offer participants a coveted opportunity to work one-on-one with the esteemed composers who have previously taught in London, Vienna, New York City, Hamburg, Adelaide, and Oslo to rave reviews.

Not exclusively dedicated to children's theatre, Pasek and Paul have penned several works suitable for a younger generation, falling in-line with CTYP's own mandate of producing and presenting playful, first-rate theatrical performances that are accessible to a youthful audience. James and the Giant Peach is an anticipated highlight of CTYP's 2014/15 season, enjoying its Vancouver premiere December 6, 2014 - January 4, 2015. This whimsical production features a gifted line-up of Vancouver musical theatre talent including Patti Allan, Scott Bellis, Kaylee Harwood, Jonathan Winsby and Julian Lokash as young James Trotter, among many more.

Tickets for An Evening with Pasek and Paul are currently available for purchase online at: carouseltheatre.ca or by phone at (604) 685-6217.
