Fabulist Theatre presents in partnership with Way Off- Broadway Wednesdays present the world premiere of Hearts and Stones.

Hearts and Stones is a retelling of fairytales. Reignite your imagination and dive in to rediscover familiar folktales and fables - with an unusual and unexpected twist of perspective.

On June 6 & 13th, catch a staged reading of Fabulist Theatre's Mary Littlejohn's new episodic play exploring classic stories of growing up. Hearts and Stones is a grim but clever homage to the Grimm Brother's catalogue, including Hansel & Gretel, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. These familiar stories, which all take an abrupt departure from the pure innocence of childhood, are now told with Littlejohn's unusal twist of perspective. In this trilogies of stories, growing up has never been this Grimm, or dramatic.

WOW is thrilled to partner with Fabulist Theatre: co-artistic producers Damon Bradley Jang and Mary Littlejohn are known for blazing trails for diversity and inclusion when selecting scripts and actors.

Littlejohn tells the Vancouver Sun: "Our main goal was that we wanted to create opportunities for diverse casts, to give roles to actors who might not get a chance to perform, and give opportunities to new performers as well. ... there has been a shift in Vancouver theatre, where colour-blind casting is much more of a thing than it used to be, and we're starting to see more diverse and imaginative casting choices onstage. We wanted to be part of that as well."

The show features

Kenneth Tynan (Once On This Island, Brave New Playrites) as Hansel

Karliana DeWolff (Once On This Island, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Gretel -

Chelsea Huang (Pacific Overtures) as Snow White

Adam Darts (Into the Woods) as Felix

Linda Noble (Into The Woods) as Gran

Brianna Clark (Once On This Island, Vancouver Showstoppers) as Red
