Blackbird Theatre to Offer MediaSpecial Preview Performance of Sheridan's THE RIVALS, 12/15

By:

Blackbird Theatre is pleased to present an exclusive preview showing of the wickedly witty, irreverent 10th anniversary production of Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The Rivals, Tuesday, December 15 at 2:30pm at Progress Lab, 1422 William Street. Directed by Jessie-Award winning Johnna Wright, the comic masterpiece of love, pride, and other foibles will shift its timeless tale of mistaken identity and overwrought romance from an 18th century setting to 'Downton Abbey'-era Edwardian England. The stellar cast features Gabrielle Rose, Scott Bellis, Duncan Fraser, Martin Happer, Luisa Jojic, Emma Slipp, Kirk Smith, John Emmet Tracy, and Jenny Wasko-Paterson.

This exclusive preview offers media the opportunity to experience a scene from The Rivals, and will feature acclaimed Canadian actress Gabrielle Rose, starring as the celebrated Mrs. Malaprop, along with Martin Happer. This scene shows our hero, Jack Absolute, pull out all the stops to charm his way into Mrs. Malaprop's good graces so he can steal a few moments with her niece, his beloved Lydia.

Media are invited to attend and record footage of this preview showing, offering a glimpse into Blackbird Theatre's 10th Anniversary production of Sheridan's comedic masterpiece taking place at The Cultch's Historic Theatre from December 28-January 23, 2016.
