Funhouse Comedy brings an outstanding day of comedy to the covered beer garden stage at The New Barrack Tavern, Sheffield on Sunday July 12th with its Edinburgh Festival Preview All-Dayer.
2.00pm – Patrick Monahan: I'm Not A Terrorist – I'm Freddie Mercury
Since the first day I arrived in England in the 1980’s (from Iran), if I had a £1 for every time someone called me a terrorist, I’d have enough money to set up my own terrorist organisation.
But I’m not. No matter how many times I’ve been asked. I have more in common with Freddie Mercury than I do with Isis & Hezbollah.
Even having visas turned down because of my heritage for being from an axis of evil. Come watch me live on stage with my brand-new stand-up show proving why I’m not a terrorist.
“Patrick Monahan is clever, very funny and hugely likeable” - Scottish Field *****
“always provides plenty of entertainment and gets more laughs than most shows around every year.”- One4review ‘4.5 stars’ Aug 2025
3.25pm – Phil Nichol: Aren't We Lucky
Lou Reed. The lottery. Ecstasy. Prince Andrew. Punk. Barenaked Ladies. Crisps. Terry Jones. Leukaemia. Butterflies. Dizzy Gillespie's cheeks. Chance. Scat. Sunshine on Leith. Boo-bee-dee-do. Wasps. Double helix. Comedy. Dennis Hopper. Scrotums. Life. Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner, Phil Nichol is back with a brand-new show. An acclaimed actor, award-winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician, there is no end to his talent. As seen on The Graham Norton Show (BBC One) and Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC Two). ***** (Scotsman). ***** (List).
4.50pm – Andrew Bird
The effortlessly engaging Andrew Bird, who has appeared on TV on The Russell Howard Hour, was the support act on Michael McIntyre's recent arena tour and has also supported Rhod Gilbert and Lee Hurst on tour, as well as performing internationally. Watching The Young Ones with his brothers as an eight year old, at two in the morning on Comic Relief, he realized then that he wanted to be funny in some way. With his personal appeal and superbly crafted, funny anecdotes, he captivates his audiences.
6.15pm – Raul Kohli: Makes It Up As He Goes Along
Raul Kohli returns for a sixth year with his sell-out cult hit! No material, no plan, no sad bit at the 45th minute where his pet chinchilla dies... Just one hour of straight improvised comedy based on what the crowd tell him. ***** (Guardian). ***** (AYoungishPerspective.co.uk). ***** (TheWeeReview.com) 'His ability to work the crowd can't be understated' ****½ (Distractify.com). Edinburgh ISH Award Best Show Nominee 2024. The Guardian's Best Joke of the Fringe 2024.
7.30pm – Jacob Nussey
Winner of Funhouse's Should I Stay or Should I Go competition and semi-finalist in British Comedian of the Year, the up-and-coming Jacob Nussey who draws in audiences with his low-status, surreal, and often dark style.
8.45pm – Adam Flood - Life and Death of the Party
Stand-up performed over big electronic beats. A show about hedonism and Adam's vanishing nightlife. 'It shouldn't work, but it absolutely does' (Metro). 'A multifaceted comedy talent' (Guardian). As seen on BBC and ITV. Adam Flood, from Stoke-on-Trent, was once a teenage drug dealer, then an indie rock star, now a comedian. In 2025 his debut stand-up show was released by the BBC. In 2026 he ran, sober, full speed into a closed glass door. **** (BroadwayWorld.com). **** (EdFringeReview.com). **** (Mervyn Stutter's Pick of The Fringe). **** (TheRealChrisparkle.com).
