A fusion of Bengali folk, jazz, pop, funk and soul, this evening will take you on a sensational journey all the way to Lalon. Shapla is one of the most talented UK Bengali performers - don't miss this opportunity to catch her live.

Bangladeshi born Shapla grew up in Tajpur, Sylhet, watching her family perform. In the late 1970's Shapla's father Abdus Salique founded the first ever Bangladeshi folk group in the UK, Dishari Shilpi Ghosti and Shapla became the lead singer, specialising in Sylheti folk songs and the work of Kobi Nazrul Islam. In the years that followed Shapla fronted Dishari on numerous albums and TV appearances, as well as performances around the world.

Growing up in London as a young artist, Shapla developed a zest for music, from both East and West. Although excited by the beats and rhythms of Western mainstream music, Shapla has never forgotten the intricate tapestry of poetic melodies and stories, which are part of the traditional heritage of her homeland.

Wilton's is proud to host this stunning evening that is sure to be filled with passion, emotion, and power.
