VIDEO: An Introduction To I'M NOT RUNNING, To Be Broadcast By National Theatre Live
By: A.A. Cristi
I'm Not Running is an explosive new play by Academy Award nominee and Oliver and BAFTA winning writer David Hare, premiering at the National Theatre and broadcast live to cinemas on January 31, 2019.
Pauline Gibson, played by Sian Brooke, has spent her life as a doctor, the inspiring leader of a local health campaign. When she crosses paths with her old boyfriend, a stalwart loyalist in Labour Party politics, she's faced with an agonising decision.
What's involved in sacrificing your private life and your peace of mind for something more than a single issue? Does she dare?
National Theatre Live captures live performances from the UK and broadcasts them in more than 2,500 movie theaters and other venues in 60 countries worldwide. As of February 2017, the global audience reached almost 8 million people.
National Theatre Live is the closest thing audiences have to experiencing the feeling of actually sitting in the theater. Broadcasts retain the feeling of a live performance and though each broadcast is filmed in front of a live audience in the theatre, cameras are carefully positioned throughout the auditorium to ensure that cinema audiences get the 'best seat in the house.'
