The Tricycle Theatre today announces that £327,500 was raised for the theatre's capital development project as part of Christies' Post War and Contemporary Art All Day Auction.

The auction took place in October at King Street and included artwork from artists including Charles Avery, Antony Gormley, Shirazeh Houshiary, Anish Kapoor, Tala Madani, Sean Scully, and Toby Ziegler.

Jeremy Lewison, Trustee of the Tricycle Theatre and Chair of the Capital Appeal Committee said today, "the recognition of the Tricycle's work and capital project by these international artists has helped us enormously in our drive to raise the money to improve the theatre. We are also very grateful to all those who purchased their works in support of our cause. "

The Tricycle's £5 million capital development project, supported with funds from Arts Council England and a range of individual benefactors, trusts and foundations will transform the theatre's auditorium, enhancing the artistic experience and increase accessibility to make the Tricycle even more open to all. The work is set to take place from Summer 2016.

Indhu Rubasingham said today, "This is an incredible lift to our capital development project - and we're huge indebted to Jeremy Lewison, the team, Christies and the wonderful artists who so generously donated works to support the theatre."
