The Watermill Announces Cast of ROMEO AND JULIET

Artistic and Executive Director, Paul Hart today announces the company for his new production of Romeo and Juliet, the opening production of his inaugural season at The Watermill Theatre. Romeo and Juliet runs from 25 February until 2 April, with a press night on Monday 29 February.

With casting in collaboration with The National Youth Theatre and the UK's leading theatre schools, Paul Hart, has assembled a company of young actor-musicians and emerging singer-songwriters, for this contemporary re-imagining of Shakespeare's immortal tale of an all-consuming love. Set in the round, the production will also feature live music by critically acclaimed musician, Johnny Flynn performed by the company.

Stuart Wilde plays Romeo and making her professional debut, Lucy Keirl plays Juliet. The cast also features Victoria Blunt (Benvolio), Rupert Lazarus (Tybalt), Rebecca Lee (Friar), Peter Mooney (Mercutio), Samatha Pearl (Lady Capulet), Lauryn Redding (Nurse), Ned Rudkins-Stow(Paris) and Mike Slader (Capulet).

Paul Hart is The Watermill's new Artistic and Executive Director. Hart was previously an Associate with Propeller Theatre Company and Resident Assistant Director for The Donmar Warehouse, where he worked on the Broadway transfer of Red and directed Huis Clos. Previous productions at The Watermill include: Heroes, Great Expectations, The Tempest and most recently, Journey's End. He also directed The Essay for BBC Radio 3.

Romeo and Juliet is designed by Katie Lias (Journey's End, The Watermill), with lighting design by Tom White and sound design by David Gregory.
