THE HIRED MAN to Play Landor Theatre This August
By: Kelsey Denette Jul. 06, 2011
In August 2011, Theatrica Ltd will bring Howard Goodall & Melvyn Bragg?s earthy, visceral & moving musical, The Hired Man to the Landor Theatre.
The Hired Man is an emotional love triangle taking us right to the heart of Cumbrian life in the run up to the first world war. It's the moving story of a young married couple and their struggles - to carve a living from the land and to survive working in the coal-mines - just as the gathering storm of war in Europe threatens their community, their love and their lives. In 1984, during its West End run, The Hired Man was awarded the Ivor Novello Award for Best Musical, earned four Olivier Award nominations, and was voted Best Musical of the Year by the critics of Time Out, The Guardian, Punch & The Stage. In 2004 its Salisbury Playhouse revival won the TMA Award for Best Musical.Full cast list soon to be announced.CREATIVE TEAM
