Mark Ravenhill Set to Direct CORONATION OF POPPEA, Apr. 12

Mark Ravenhill is set to make his directorial debut with King's Head Theatre's production of THE CORONATION OF POPPEA. The show will run from April 12 through May 19. Cast members include: Rebecca Caine (Ottavia), Tom Lowe (Arnalta), Jassy Husk (Drusilla), Jessica Walker (Nero), David Sheppard (Ottone), Zoe Bonner (Poppea), Adam Kowalczyk (Liberto/Soldier) and Marcin Gesla (Seneca).

One of the earliest operas ever written is coming to the youngest opera house in London. Monteverdi's tale of the triumphant adultery between Poppea and Roman Emperor Nero gets a radical treatment in Mark Ravenhill's and Alex Silverman's new version, with a new jazz-inspired orchestration, and a world-class cast of singers.

Ravenhill's most famous plays include Shopping and f-ing (first performed in 1996),^[1] Some Explicit Polaroids (1999) and Mother Clap's Molly House (2001). He made his acting debut in his monologue Product, at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He often writes for the arts section of The Guardian.
