Make It A Marvellous May At The Epstein Theatre May is promising to be a busy month at the Epstein Theatre where there is a packed programme of theatre, music, comedy and family entertainment.

The quest to find the most famous missing piece of pop memorabilia in the world - Lennon's Banjo - continues until Saturday 5 May.

The new stage comedy is set in present day Liverpool and includes an intriguing mix of fact and fiction, telling the fascinating story of John Lennon's missing childhood banjo.

When Beatles tour guide Barry Seddon finds a letter written by John Lennon, he unearths a clue to solving the greatest mystery in pop history - the whereabouts of Lennon's first musical instrument which has been missing for 60 years. But Barry's loose tongue alerts Texan dealer Travis Lawson to the priceless relic, and the race to find Lennon's Banjo is on!

The show features an all-star cast which includes a special guest appearance by Beatles original drummer Pete Best, who will play himself in three special performances including the evening of Saturday 5 May.

Later in the month the Epstein welcomes Drew Quayle's hit comedy drama The Salon, running from Monday 21 - Saturday 26 May.

Set in the fictitious Curl Up and Dye beauty salon, the hilarious show stars TOWIE's Harry Derbidge, Radio City's Leanne Campbell, Blood Brothers and Rita, Sue and Bob Too! star Olivia Sloyan and Brookside and Benidorm's Philip Olivier. Completing the cast is Brookside's Sarah White and Emmerdale's Peter Amory.

Meanwhile there's family fun aplenty during May with a brace of brilliant shows for young audience members.

Sarah and Duck's Big Top Birthday brings the enchanting world of the BAFTA Award-winning CBeebies show to life in a new stage show, coming to the theatre on Tuesday 8 May and featuring all their favourite characters from the TV series.

And Dear Zoo on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May takes author Rod Campbell's best-selling creations off the page and on to the stage for the very first time. Dear Zoo has delighted generations of young readers since it was first published in 1982 and has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide.

There's a marvellous mix of music coming up throughout the month of May, kicking off with King King on Thursday 10 May. The Glasgow rockers have been described as "the best blues-rock band in the world" and now is the chance to find out why.

The Best of Wham! on Friday 11 May is a chance to re-live those heady days of the 1980s when George, Andrew, Pepsi and Shirlie ruled the charts. Expect sensational vocals, choreography, costumes and an awesome live band.

Billy Joel is widely recognised as one of the great singer-songwriters, and music fans have the chance to hear two of his albums performed in their entirety in one sensational show when Elio Pace and Joel's own lead guitarist David Brown present the Albums Show on Tuesday 15 May.

There's a further chance to enjoy the songs of a music legend on Wednesday 16 May with Dusty & The Shades of the Sixties, while the brilliant Eddi Reader brings her distinctive vocals to the Epstein on Thursday 17 May.

Dickens favourite Oliver Twist gets a clever reimagining on Saturday 19 May with Arti-Dodgers Twist fusing spoken word and urban dance in what is described as 'an explosion of Funk for all the family'.

And on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 May, the Crosby-based Carmen Maria Academy presents Legends. The talented students will be performing dance routines to a range of music from Madonna to Beiber and Prince to Adele.
