EDINBURGH 2010: BWW Reviews: FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE (McEwan Hall)
The original London production has passed into the annals of musical theatre history, what with its alumni including Clarke Peters and Paul J Medford.
Both of them are involved in this revival, with Peters appearing on stage throughout as the everyman guided through the detritus of his life by the Moes, while the cast perform Medford's slick choreography.
Peters is a generous performer - it'd be easy for him to ham up his fundamentally narrative role, but he sings his solo numbers beautifully and then hands over the spotlight to the quintet of Moes, all of whom are incredibly strong vocalists and dancers.
It's a joy to behold, and the fabulous band, led by an impossibly young MD, add the finishing touches. A lavish, riotous, marvellous musical treat.
