Casting Announced For Theatre Peckham's ROBIN HOOD: THE ARROW OF DESTINY

The six-strong cast includes Theatre Peckham alumni Malachi Green and newcomers Ayanna Christie-Brown and Gustavo Navarro alongside acting stalwarts Geoff Aymer (THEYOUNG VIC, ARCOLA THEATRE, SHAKESPEARE'S GLOBE, BARBICAN, ROYAL COURT), Ray Newe (NATIONAL THEATRE, LIVERPOOL PLAYHOUSE), TerriAnn Oudjar (upcoming ROYAL COURT, THE PLAYHOUSE THEATRE). Joining the cast on stage will be 40 children who form part of Theatre Peckham's renowned arts education and training programme.

Robin Hood: The Arrow Of Destinyhas been written by award-winning playwright and York Theatre Royal associate Richard Hurford and directed by Suzann McLean (Artistic Director THEATRE PECKHAM). Music and lyrics by Rob Castell (TRAFALGAR STUDIOS, SOHO THEATRE, YORK THEATRE ROYAL). The acclaimed creative team behind the production also includes choreographer Tamara McKoy Patterson (ROYAL OPERA HOUSE, NATIONAL THEATRE, LION KING WEST END, West Yorkshire Playhouse), Fight director Johnathan Holby, (Donmar Warehouse, Almeida Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse). The design by Lily Faith-Knight (FAMILIA DE LA NOCHE, NEW DIORAMA THEATRE, ACKLEY BRIDGE CH4, NATIONAL THEATRE CONNECTIONS).

Robin Hood: The Arrow of Destiny, introduces young audiences to a current take on the characters found in this children's classic. Rob Castell's music and lyrics incorporate rap, salsa and reggae beats. This play with songs promises to be a festive treat for all the family with a show packed full of comedy, action, adventure and song. Forget the legends, forget the stories, this Robin Hood is real.

The production marks the venue's new artistic director Suzann McLean's inaugural production, since joining in September 2018. Cast in the lead role as Robin, South East London local Malachi Green follows in the footsteps of Theatre Peckham Patron and former pupil John Boyega, who trained at this world class home for creative learning and performance and recently found global fame for his role in Star Wars.

Artistic Director Suzann McLean said: 'Theatre Peckham has been enormously successful in producing Christmas productions that have young people at their core. As my first production as the new artistic director, I am honoured to continue this legacy with Robin Hood: The Arrow of Destinyby Richard Hurford. It is a fun-for-all-the-family show with fantastic music. The richly diverse communities of Peckham are reflected within the cast from our young company through to our professional actors making this festive show a delight for all.'
