Attic Theatre Presents PLAYFEST This Weekend
This weekend, October 11 and 12 at 7.30pm, Attic Theatre Company presents Playfest, two evenings of staged readings of five new short plays at Wimbledon Library. This year's plays were selected by artistic director Louise Hill following Attic's call for anonymous submissions earlier this year.
The five selected plays are:
- Pitted by Troodie Mootz
- Reunion by Richard Fitchett
- Warm, Hot, Getting Hotter by Lou Treleaven
- Lemons by James Withey
- Fountain of Youth by Chris Holbrook
Playfest is produced in association with Wimbledon Bookfest and tickets are available from www.wimbledonbookfest.org.
New writing is a central part of Attic's work. The company commissions playwrights and works with them from first draft to full production. Playfest is a vital part of that process, enabling the company to forge new relationships with writers. Attic's next main stage production, Tabitha Mortiboy's A Certain Minor Light, originated in a staged reading at Playfest in 2012.
Tickets are just £10 including a welcome drink, and after the performance on Saturday 11 October there will be a chance to discuss the plays with all five writers, as well as Attic's artistic director, Louise Hill, and the cast of each play.
Tickets are on sale now at www.wimbledonbookfest.org. For further information, see www.attictheatrecompany.com or email info@attictheatrecompany.com. Running time approximately two hours including an interval.
