Il Doo Wop Project, composto da veterani di Broadway Charl Brown, Dwayne Cooper, John Dias, Russell Fischer & Dominic Nolfi, pubblicheranno il loro nuovo album completo, Echoes of the Street, il 10 ottobre.
Il loro quarto album completo fino ad oggi, l'album rende omaggio alle radici del doo wop mentre reinterpreta classici moderni per una nuova generazione. Pre-ordina/Pre-salva QUI, e ascolta il loro ultimo singolo, una reinterpretazione di "Blue Moon," qui sotto.
Prodotto da Sonny Paladino per Joy Machine Records, il quintetto ha registrato 12 tracce per Echoes of the Street, spaziando da classici R&B, successi pop, a preferiti del teatro musicale. Questo repertorio eclettico parla della versatilità e dell'approccio dinamico del gruppo. Nell'album, i cantanti eseguono una gamma di brani da "My Girl" dei Temptations a "Get Lucky" [feat. Pharrell Williams & Nile Rodgers] dai Daft Punk. Altre tracce includono "Somewhere" da West Side Story e "Shake It Off" di Taylor Swift.
Riguardo all'album, il Doo Wop Project ha commentato: "Abbiamo scelto canzoni che riflettono il legame urbano che ha sempre influenzato il genere doo wop. New York City, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Newark e Filadelfia hanno prodotto gruppi vocali che hanno registrato canzoni che copriamo in questo disco. Come diciamo nei testi di Looking for an Echo: 'Anche se possono essere oldies, li rendiamo nuovi di nuovo.' Con uno sguardo al futuro, 'Doowopifichiamo' canzoni popolari contemporanee per raggiungere un pubblico più ampio. Speriamo che questo album sia amato dai fedeli del doo wop e serva anche come un'introduzione vocalmente rinfrescante al genere per le generazioni a venire."
Per celebrare il rilascio, il Doo Wop Project sarà il protagonista di uno speciale concerto di lancio dell'album presso il Sony Hall di New York City il 7 ottobre, presentando una serata piena di classici e debut di brani dal nuovo disco. I biglietti sono già in vendita QUI. Per il resto del 2025, intratterranno il pubblico in tournée con un nuovissimo spettacolo di 90 minuti—anch'esso intitolato Echoes of The Street—attraverso il Nord America questo mese, seguito da date in ottobre e oltre.
