This Play was first produced in 1995 under the name POLLARD by The Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv , directed by Ilan Ronen. It was written a few years after Jonathan Pollard was arrested by the FBI and received life sentence for espionage in US jail in November 1985. The affair created deep crisis between the US and Israel and between the American Jewry and Israel. Jonathan Pollard is still in Jail.

The current version of the play, renamed DECEIVED was created by the playwright with Teatron Toronto Jewish Theatre's cooperation specifically for this production. It includes both new factual information not available at the time of the original play, as well as dramatic changes that make this powerful drama even more potent.
