Witness the early stages of development for two distinct pieces of dance choreography by TOES FOR DANCE Process+Practice Residency artists Pulga Muchochoma and Kass Prus. This unique experience offers you the chance to engage with new ideas and speak with the artists through a facilitated Q&A. Join this free preview to gain insight into the beginning of the creative process before the full pieces premiere in the fall of 2027 as part of the Lakeshore Dance Series.

(the call) by Kass Prus, is a solo work that investigates how inherited Ukrainian folk dance traditions can be reclaimed, queered, and transformed. As a trans, queer, and newly disabled artist, Kass explores a choreographic relationship with a rollator mobility aid. The work asks: What does it mean to follow a current of identity that is divergent, multitudinous, and no longer ashamed?

PapaYaga by Pulga Muchochoma, (“My Dad” in Pulga’s native tongue, Chuabo), is a solo work based in African and contemporary dance that explores his transition from son to father. This piece will examine his relationship with his father, his relationship with his own children, and the tension between these two realities; countering the enduring myth of the emotionally (and physically) absent Black father.
