THE MOTHERF--KER WITH THE HAT to Receive Toronto Premiere at Coal Mine Theatre

By:

Diana Bentley and Melissa D'Agostino of Bob Kills Theatre will present the Toronto premiere of THE MOTHERFU**KER WITH THE HAT, by Stephen Adly Guirgis, at a new intimate performance space, The Coal Mine Theatre, at the heart of Pape and Danforth.

The Toronto company for THE MOTHERFU**KER WITH THE HAT boasts a unique combination of established theatre titans and emerging theatre artists such as Juan Chioran (Cabaret, The Philadelphia Story/Shaw Festival), Melissa D'Agostino (Lupe Undone, Savage in Limbo), Sergio Di Zio (Léo/Tarragon; Flashpoint/CTV), Ted Dykstra (2 Pianos, 4 Hands; Evangleine/Charlottetown Festival), and Nicole Stamp (Better Parts/Theatre Passe Muraille), directed by Layne Coleman (True/Toronto Fringe Festival; Hooked/Theatre Passe Muraille).

A study of lives in collision, Jackie and Veronica have been lovers since high school and are as hooked on each other as they are on alcohol and bad habits. Their love is wild and all consuming, but it suits them both perfectly-until Jackie spots another man's hat in their apartment. Recently released from prison, Jackie's quest to track down "the motherfucker with the hat" threatens to put him right back where he started. Poetic, profane, and thoroughly hilarious, THE MOTHERFU**KER WITH THE HAT is a foul-mouthed look at modern love and other addictions.

Playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis is an off-Broadway whiz kid with such hits at The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, and Our Lady of 121st Street. THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT, his Broadway debut, was nominated for six 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Play, and played a total of 28 previews and 112 regular performances.
