In an imagined sequel to Jane Austen's beloved Pride and Prejudice, the characters celebrate the Christmas season in Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley. Focusing on the often-overlooked Bennet sister, Mary, Miss Bennet is a romantic comedy that will appeal to Austen fans, as well as those who appreciate an underdog. When Mary comes to Pemberley to spend Christmas with her sisters, she finds herself entangled in a potential romance with Mr. Darcy's awkward cousin, Arthur de Bourgh.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon, was one of the most produced plays in America in 2017. The show had a rolling world premiere at multiple theatres across the U.S. in 2016. The Citadel Theatre is pleased to bring this Austen-esque period piece to Edmonton, where audiences have responded enthusiastically to adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.

Directed by Edmontonian Nancy McAlear, Miss Bennet features Umed Amin, Dora-nominated actor Mikaela Davies, Allison Edwards-Crewe, Mathew Hulshof, Emma Houghton, Cameron Kneteman, Emma Laishram, and Gianna Vacirca. Set and costume design is by Dana Osborne, with lighting design by Oz Weaver, and composition and sound design by Jonathan Lewis.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley runs November 17 to December 9, in the Shoctor Theatre. This year marks the first time that two Christmas-themed shows have overlapped at the Citadel, with the final season of Tom Wood's iconic adaptation of A Christmas Carol running November 30 to December 23 in the Maclab Theatre. In addition to the two shows, the Citadel will host Dickens Fest Edmonton November 30 to December 2, allowing patrons the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas market and teas before or after watching a holiday show. There will also be a 19th Century Christmas party, complete with dancing on the set of Miss Bennet, entertainment, and a traditional Victorian Dinner Party on December 2.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley runs November 17 to December 9, 2018. Tickets are available at www.citadeltheatre.com and 780.425.1820. Tickets start at just $30 plus fees and GST.
