David Auster will be joining the Stratford Shakespeare Festival as producer, beginning March 12, 2012. Dave, who was raised in Toronto and is a graduate of the University of Toronto, is the current Associate General Manager at 101 Productions in New York, where he has been for over 14 years. In this role, he has overseen the producing aspects and day-to-day operations of more than 50 Broadway productions and U.S. national tours. He has also managed a variety of theatre productions, gala events, and festivals, and has taken tours throughout North America and several places around the world.

Prior to his work at 101 Productions, Dave worked with Des McAnuff, when Dave was Associate General Manager on the National Tour of The Who’s, Tommy. Dave also worked in Assistant General Manager and Company Manager roles on a variety of US tours, Broadway, and Off-Broadway productions, and has taught at Columbia University's MFA program in Theatre Management and Producing since 2003.

With William Shakespeare as its foundation, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival aims to set the standard for classical theatre in North America. Embracing the heritage of tradition and innovation, they seek to bring classical and contemporary theatre alive for an increasingly diverse audience.

For more than half a century, the mission has evolved to address the ever-changing, ever-challenging Canadian cultural landscape. What has remained constant, however, is the determination to create stimulating, thought-provoking productions of Shakespeare’s plays, to examine other plays from the classical repertoire, and to foster and support the development of Canadian theatre practitioners.
