ALAN CUMMING: LEGAL IMMIGRANT Comes to Massey Hall This Week Image

Massey Hall in association with The Musical Stage Company presents Tony Award-winning actor and activist Alan Cumming for his Legal Immigrant tour on Saturday, June 16. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 9 at 10am.

Alan Cumming is many things to many people - Renaissance man, style icon, social activist, bon viveur - but to himself he is a storyteller and provocateur for hire. He became an American citizen in 2008, and Legal Immigrant is a cabaret of songs and stories about his life and loves in his adopted homeland.

Cumming, who is known for standout roles in television (The Good Wife, The L Word, and the new CBS Crime Series INSTINCT), film (Eyes Wide Shut, Titus), and for his writing (including a New York Times best-selling memoir), has been described by Time Magazine as one of the most fun people in show business. Billboard Magazine said of his last concert tour Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs (which came to Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre in 2016 for two sold out shows) "he's an icon to behold - he is unapologetically himself, and with a talent like that, he has no need to apologize."

Massey Hall is one of Canada's most revered cultural institutions and a designated National Historic Site. The iconic venue has hosted some of the greatest historical figures and contemporary artists including, Winston Churchill, Gordon Lightfoot, Helen Keller, Enrico Caruso, Neil Young, Jerry Seinfeld, U2, Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson, Bob Dylan, Feist & Harry Styles. Built in 1894 by Hart Massey, Massey Hall was gifted to the citizens of Toronto and to this day, operates as a not for profit organization. Remaining true to Massey's vision, the organization devotes much of its focus on community outreach & education as well as artist development programs. In order to logistically & successfully accommodate these initiatives as well as continuing to attract the world's greatest performers, Massey Hall is currently in the midst of a Revitalization - a seven-year multiphase project to renew both the interior & exterior of the hall and the construction of a new south tower - to ensure that the lives of Canadians continue to be enriched through arts, employment, and cultural celebration for generations to come.
