5-STAR THEATRICALS (formerly Cabrillo Music Theatre) opens its 2017-2018 season with Patrick Cassidy starring as the Pharaoh in a fresh new look at an all-time family favorite, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Tim Rice, musical direction by Dr. Cassie Nickols, choreography by "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographer Dave Scott and directed by 5-Star Theatricals Managing Director Will North. JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT opens on Friday, October 13, 2017 and runs through Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

The incredibly popular musical for all ages about the Biblical character of Joseph that put the Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice team on the map, returns to the Civic Arts Plaza re-imagined for 2017, with choreography created by the award-winning Dave Scott of the films: "You Got Served" and "Step Up 2: The Streets", as well as the popular TV show: "So You Think You Can Dance". This re-envisioned classic is sure to be a sellout!

"Its message has never been more important and our season ticket holders and audiences are going to fall in love with this show all over again!"

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST

Will North (Director) is a highly established theatre professional with more than 20 years of creative and financial experience, onstage as a lead performer and backstage as a producer and director. Will is thrilled to bring all of his passion, talent and expertise to the helm of 5-Star Theatricals (formerly Cabrillo Music Theatre) as its new Managing Director. A professionally trained performer, Will (AEA, SAG/AFTRA, ASCAP) holds a Masters of Fine Arts in acting pedagogy from the University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theatre from Jacksonville University. He has performed more than 100 roles on stages including the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Cinderella Castle Stage, Disney World, the Celebrity Galaxy Cruise Ship (where he was also Company Manager), The York Theatre NYC, Cabrillo Musical Theatre and other venues nationwide. Some of his favorite personal performances include his roles as Pippin in Pippin, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Sky in Guys and Dolls, Tony in West Side Story, Zastrozzi in Zastrozzi, and Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Will also spent the past five years touring with the Southeastern tour of The Forgotten Carols.

A singer and instrumentalist - he's a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) as a published songwriter - Will has performed in concert with Alexis Gershwin at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, in addition to appearing with several symphonies. In addition to being an accomplished actor, singer, instrumentalist and songwriter, Will is an award-winning director, with credits for such shows as: Oklahoma, No Exit, Sweeney Todd and beyond. Plus, as the resident technical director and production manager of Marymount Los Angeles for a six-year span, his work also includes 42nd St., Oliver, Cats, Much Ado About Nothing, and Peter Pan to name a few.

On the business side of entertainment, Will moved to Los Angeles to assist Sam Haskell (former VP of Worldwide TV for the William Morris Agency), where he worked on many projects including producing the Miss America Live telecast and reality show, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award National Ceremonies, in addition to managing events for Martingale Music recording artist, Mary Haskell. Transitioning to producer, Will worked for Abel McCallister Designs as its producer of experiential event marketing for top brands such as Patron, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and Duke Spirits. He was also associate producer for the NAACP awards nominated show Visionary Man, at the Hudson Theatre in LA, in addition to other projects around the country.

SCOTT (Choreography) danced his way "straight outta Compton" and right into Hollywood and a multi-faceted career in dance, choreography, and artist development spanning music, film, television, and commercials. Dave has choreographed for both film and television including So You think You Can Dance and Bones on FOX, Step Up 3D, You Got Served, Maid of Honor, Coach Carter, Uncle Buck, and Prom Night. You can also see Dave's high intensity moves in Step Up 2 the Streets which grossed over $118 million worldwide and Sony Pictures Stomp the Yard, which grossed over $136 million worldwide. You Got Served (2004) won him the American Choreography Award for Best Choreography in a feature filM. Scott was the key ingredient behind the success of B2K, giving them their name, style, dance moves, and all-out sex appeal. In just two years, B2Kscored two platinum albums and headlined the sold-out tours nationwide. Scott has molded and shaped the images and careers of many other artists, including Tyrese, Marques Houston and the musically renowned Brian McKnight, allowing them to reach new and unexpected heights in their careers. Scott has lent his talents to several commercial campaigns including Chevy and Pantene. Most recently, Dave choreographed and produced the international hit dance film, High Strung. Next up is the feature film, Namuh, on which he will again serve as choreographer and producer.

Dr. CASSIE NICKOLS (Musical Director) is thrilled to be a part of the first 5-Star Theatricals production Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! She also couldn't be happier to be working with this amazing creative team, cast and crew! An LA native, Cassie has become a sought-after accompanist, musical director, performer, teacher, and coach, winning such accolades as Most Outstanding Graduate from the Thornton School at USC after completing her Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance. Her performances have taken her to New York and London and range from solo classical recitals to rock concerts to musical theatre. She has also been the accompanist for the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles since 2015 and continues to love every minute of it! Patrick Cassidy (Pharaoh) recently appeared in A Little Night Music at A.C.T in San Francisco and starred opposite Patti LuPone in Annie Get Your Gun, directed by Lonny Price. He also had the honor of recreating the role his father, Jack Cassidy, originated on Broadway in the Dallas Theater Center's production of It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman. On Broadway: Julian Marsh in 42nd Street. Elton John's Aida (as well as the national tour for which he won the 2002 National Broadway Theater Award for Best Actor), Annie Get Your Gun, Pirates of Penzance, and Leader of the Pack. Patrick originated the role of the Balladeer in Stephen Sondheim's Assassins at Playwrights Horizons and appeared in Lady in the Dark at City Center's Encores! National tours include Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2000 and again in 2006. Regionally he has been seen at the Sacramento Music Circus, portraying Professor Harold Hill in The Music Man, Footloose at PCLO, Conrack (Helen Hayes nomination) at Ford's Theater, Martin Guerre at the Hartford Stage, and The End of the Day at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Los Angeles appearances include I Love My Wife and Threepenny Opera for Reprise (Garland Award for Best Actor in a Musical); Bobby in Company with Carol Burnett; Love Letters; and Assassins (LATC).

Other theatre credits include: The Music Man at the Kennedy Center (which he directed and starred in), Carousel, Little Shop of Horrors, and Camelot. Patrick runs his own Acting Company entitled Hollywood Stage Academy and is currently the Resident Director at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas for Steve Wynn's Showstoppers. Most recently Patrick conceived an autobiographical musical about his mother Shirley Jones entitled Have You Met Miss Jones.

The cast of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will also feature: Laura Dickinson as the NARRATOR, Adam Hollick as JOSEPH, David Gilchrist as JACOB/POTIPHAR, Tyler Stouffer as the BAKER, Michael Mittman as the BUTLER, Marc Ginsburg as REUBEN, Mitchell Johnson as JUDAH and James Olivas as LEVI.

The Design Team of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will feature: Lighting Design by Jose Santiago, Sound Design by Jonathan Burke, Costume Design by Beth Glasner, Props Design by Alex Choate, and Hair & Make Up Design by Quang Zeller. The Production Stage Manager is Talia Krispel.

ABOUT THE PRICING AND SCHEDULE

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT will open on Friday, October 13, 2017, and run through Sunday, October 22, 2017. Performances are Thursday at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Saturdays and Sunday at 2:00pm; with a special early performance at 1pm on Sunday, October 22.

A signed performance for the deaf and hard-of-hearing will take place on Saturday, October 14 at 2:00pm, followed by a post-show discussion with cast, staff and audience.
